Backpacks for Success was conceived by Renaissance Unity (RU) in Bedford Heights. For the past several years, the RU congregation has donated backpacks to area children as one of its community outreach programs. Recognizing the benefit of our outreach, we were inspired to create a network of other religious congregations and service organizations to create their own backpack outreach projects and support children in our community. InterAct Cleveland (www.interactcleveland.org), inter-religious partners in action of Greater Cleveland, is also providing support and outreach for Backpacks for Success. Backpacks for Success sponsor organizations, listed on backpacksforsuccess.org, are members of InterAct Cleveland. Faith communities and service organization are continuing to join Backpacks for Success. This growing network of organizations broadens the effect of each individual project – there is certainly strength in connection! And, we are open to growing our network daily. To join the program, please provide your contact information on this website's "Contact" page and we will add your name to the growing list of participating congregations and organizations. The only obligation you incur is to create your own “Backpacks for Success” project and to report on the website how many backpacks you give to the school of your choice this coming August. Who knows? Maybe Northeast Ohio will become a model for other areas of the country with this grassroots way of taking care of our children and supporting education. Thank you for your interest. P.S.
